Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service Chief Larry Bentley has been recognized by his peers with an award.

The local head of the fire service received a leadership award recently at the Ontario Association of Fire Chief's mid-term conference.

Bentley was honoured by his fellow chief officers for the Vaughan service's partnerships with stakeholders, providing valuable contributions to the community and in educating residents preventing fires from occurring.

Fire safety programs include Alarms for Life, After the Heat, Adopt-a-School, promoting home escape planning, summer camps and library programs, distributing fire safety educational materials to residential owners and occupants, releasing public service announcements and connecting with residents through social media.
