Presented by Vaughan Mills, the 18th Annual Santafest Parade returned on November 12th to the City of Vaughan. The afternoon began with some pre-parade fun at the block party presented by the Arcadia Academy of Music. Families with young children were welcome to enjoy Home Depot's kids build zone along with Crafting for A Cure arts and crafts zone. The parade then commenced at 2pm. A variety of floats, bands, mascots and to celebrate the spirit of the season around the world- International Way colourful floats headed east down Major Mackenzie Drive towards the Vaughan Civic Centre. The weather cooperated that day, however, those watching the parade found it cozier to watch with a warm beverage or delicious snack in hand. Before Santa Claus arrived, his helpers went around to collect letters that any child had ready for him. Upon his arrival, excitement filled the eyes of many as Santa wished the crowd, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. The 18th Annual Santafest Parade was just as successful as its past years. The words of Happy Holidays filled the air of the City of Vaughan as the parade jumpstarted the holiday season early.
