Aurora will soon be able to explore unique Asian cuisine closer to home.

T & T Supermarket CEO Tina Lee has confirmed the chain’s 25th Canadian location will be housed at the corner of Bayview Avenue and St. John’s Sideroad come fall 2018. The supermarket is known for its hard-to-find, authentic food items; its fresh seafood; and its in-store self-serve buffet, boasting 25 hot food dishes and a 20-foot display of fresh sushi made daily.

“I have had emails for years from customers requesting a location in Aurora or Newmarket, so people don’t have to make the trek to Richmond Hill,” Lee said. “The intersection is a great retail node, and with all of the growth happening, it’s a good fit.”

The market will attract two types of clients: Chinese Canadians who are seeking to reconnect with the home country and Asian cuisine enthusiasts who are looking to explore.

“What sets us apart is you are going to find more than apples and bananas in our produce aisles, and we have enough water in our seafood tanks to fill a backyard pool,” she laughed. “It truly is a food retail experience.”

The store will be looking to hire about 110 to 120 local employees.
