Due to the success of the first gala last year, the Waves of Changes for Autism’s Board of Directors decided that it was necessary to bring back the gala for its second year. So, on September 28th, the second Waves of Changes for Autism gala returned with another inspirational mission—to make a difference in the lives of those families whose children struggle with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Making this mission the theme of the night, the wonderful members of the group—including the Co-Founders & Chairs Ellen Contardi and Loredana Di Iacovo—called out to all community members, local influencers, local dignitaries, Council Members & Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, and so many more supporters to come join them in their worthy cause at the elegant Venetian Banquet & Hospitality Centre. At the start of the night was the gala reception, in which everyone united and mingled. A satisfyingly fine dinner course later followed, along with raffle draws and an electrifying live performance by Mully Jackson—a Canadian musical five-piece ensemble. Keynote speaker MP Mike Lake also took to the stage to instill hope, encourage change and to share with the crowd his personal family connection to ASD.
What made this evening even more inspirational was the amount of awareness and vast funds this event was able to garner—with the help of its gracious organizers and supporters. “We are grateful to cause some waves for this important cause,” said Ellen (Founder and Chair of Waves of Changes for Autism). Ellen and the board continue to encourage families to visit their website at: www.wavesofchangesforautism.com/ to complete the online application for funding. The application is currently open until December 31, 2017.
