In honour of the City’s rich heritage and diverse cultures, the City of Vaughan hosted its three-day Vaughan Culture Days event on September 29, 30 & October 1, 2017. As a brief synopsis, the Vaughan Culture Days event is “an inclusive experience for all ages and abilities that encourages everyone to be a champion of local artistry and get involved in colourful and unique traditions.”
This year, the event was unforgettable especially as it also celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday through a variety of exciting and special sesquicentennial activities. Kicking off at Dave and Buster’s on September 29th, the event started off with a party that featured fun games, worthy prizes, great refreshments and inspiring guest speakers. Throughout the rest of the days, the event certainly did not disappoint and continued to showcase the creativity of the City. Those who were lucky enough to take part in the Culture Days, were treated to cultural music, colourful and unique art exhibits—like the “I.AM Enough Community Arts Festival” (an exhibit by First Nations artists from Manitoulin Island) and the “urbanGRAFFITI” exhibit (which showcased paintings by Suzanne Metz)—and so much more.
The Vaughan Culture Days event this year managed to provide the community the chance to explore and experience different cultures in a fun and engaging way. And the City is never short on cultural events. If you wish to learn more about the upcoming cultural events in the City of Vaughan, you are welcome to visit: www.vaughan.ca
