While Thanksgiving is a time of appreciation, it is also a time used to give back. For 11 years now, Savour York Region in collaboration with Plan B Promotions—with Nadia Cerelli-Fiore at the helm—have always hosted their highly-anticipated "Thanksgiving Food Drive" as a way to give back to the community prior to Thanksgiving. This year the food drive was no different.

Hosted prior to October this year, the 11th food drive kicked off on September 30 at the Fortinos located at Highway 7 & Ansley Grove. Throughout the day of the event, countless members of the community and local notable dignitaries came by to support the group. A special appearance was made by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, who kindly made his official remarks. Throughout the event, guests donated non-perishable food items in person and/or made monetary donations, which can still be made via the Savour York Region website. All the proceeds and items donated were once again graciously given to the Vaughan Food Bank—which services the less fortunate residents of Vaughan and various agencies in York Region. Similar to last year, this event managed to be another success and if you wish to learn more about Savour York Region, their philanthropic initiatives and future events, please visit their website at: www.savouryorkregion.ca/
