It was a cosplay and gaming paradise during Vaughan’s First-Ever Fan Con, presented by Vaughan Public Libraries. This day-long convention, which was hosted at the Civic Centre Resource Library on October 21, managed to impress during its first appearance.
During this convention, kids and kids-at-heart could enjoy cosplay—which is essentially dressing up in a costume based off of a character from a movie, book, or video game. This exciting event also included demonstrations of virtual reality—including Oculus Rift and Sphero; engaging maker services, like the button maker and vinyl cutter; entertaining games, including video games, table top games and the Pokémon League; as well as dedicated kids’ programs, such as Superhero Storytimes. Speaker panels, starring library staff, authors and creators from the science fiction community, were also highlights of the day, allowing guests and speakers to connect and speak with representatives from local fan clubs and artists.
With such a successful first appearance, we’re looking forward to the next!
