Whitestone announced today that Parry Sound’s economic development officer is its interim CAO.

Clayton Harris, of Parry Sound, takes the reins in Whitestone starting Oct. 30 after former CAO/treasurer/clerk Tammy Wylie resigned recently.

Taking on the treasurer position until a permanent staff member is hired is Barbara Cribbett, of Whitestone.

In a press release, the township gave Harris’ biography as: “The President and CEO of Harris Consulting, Inc., Clayton is a Chartered Professional Accountant with 30+ years experience in both the private and public sectors, including as a senior executive in the municipal and local electric distribution utility sectors. His experience includes over 20 years with the City of Vaughan, including 18 years as Commissioner of Finance and 7 years in the Office of City Manager. More recently, he has provided Interim CAO services to the Township of Muskoka Lakes for 15 months. Clayton resides in Parry Sound, in a log home reconstructed from a farmhouse originally located in Whitestone.

Of Cribbett the township wrote: “Barb is a Chartered Professional accountant with 25 years experience in the municipal sector, primarily in the Treasurer role. Her experience includes Deputy Treasurer with the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, Deputy Treasurer and Treasurer with the Town of Aurora, Treasurer with the City of Markham, and Commissioner of Finance with the City of Vaughan. She also served as Interim City Manager in Vaughan for two years.”

Township council made the decision during a closed session meeting Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Deputy Clerk / Deputy Treasurer Jennifer Wadden will continue in her current role and will assume the responsibilities of clerk on an interim basis.
