The Jaffari Community Centre Hosted the Al-Wahda Sports Festival 2017 on September 1 to September 3, which united all Muslims across North America. This Festival is a unifying, family-friendly festival that attracts over 830 participants to revel in a weekend full of competitive sports, including soccer, volleyball, badminton, ball hockey, tents and more. Festival activities for the whole family included a carnival, games, food vendors and a ladies' bazaar.
The opening and closing ceremonies featured remarks and speeches from community leaders and politicians, including Members of Parliament Majid Jowhari, Mary Ng, Deb Schulte (MP for King-Vaughan), York Regional Police Deputy Chief Thomas Carrique, Local and Regional Councillor Sunder Singh (from the City of Vaughan) and Erica Voss (Ontario Winter Games Bronze medalist and Canada Winter Games Silver medalist).
This was another perfectly run display of the games and all of the athletes had a great time during this fun competition.
