As Texas and parts of Louisiana continue to deal with the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the City of Vaughan recently made a generous donation to support the relief efforts. Through Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua's Spirit of Generosity Fund, $10,000 was donated to the Canadian Red Cross Hurricane Harvey Appeal. Reports indicate this disaster has taken more than 60 lives, driven more than one-million people out of their homes and caused widespread destruction. The Canadian Red Cross is continuing to raise funds for the American Red Cross to provide safe shelter and assistance to the tens of thousands of people who have been affected. The City of Vaughan has a history of providing humanitarian relief in times of crisis.
