Anti-Semitic graffiti has been spray painted near Hwy. 400 in York Region for the second time in less than a week.

The phrase 'Hitler was right' in orange spray paint was discovered on the Aurora Road overpass Sept. 7, according to a news release from Friends of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

The same phrase, also in orange spray paint, was found Sept. 1 on a concrete barrier near the Hwy. 400 southbound ramp, close to Vaughan Mills mall.

That graffiti has since been covered up and investigators with the York Regional Police Hate Crime Unit are investigating.

"It is disheartening to see this type of hateful message spreading across the region," Avi Benlolo, president and CEO of Friends of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said following the latest incident. "I commend the police for once again taking quick action and continuing their investigation to find the individual involved in this hate crime."

FSWC is calling on Premier Kathleen Wynne and the provincial government to "be more forceful" in pressing charges against hate crimes and is encouraging people to support the center's efforts by signing an online petition.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact York Regional Police.
