The East Gwillimbury electoral review is in the home stretch.
A small crowd of engaged citizens turned up at the Ross Family Complex Sept. 5 for a chance to discuss various options for the town moving forward.
While the public consultations held during the electoral review were light on specific models, council brought three different options to the public to hear feedback.
Option one is a four-ward hybrid model with a mayor, four ward councillors and two councillors elected at large. Option two is a three-ward model with a mayor and six ward councillors — two in each ward. Option three is an at-large model with a mayor and six councillors elected at large, with council transitioning to a five-ward model in the 2022 election with one councillor elected at large.
Reaction from the crowd was mixed as citizens debated what option presented the best future for Mount Albert.
Consultations were also scheduled for Wednesday in Sharon and the Holland Landing Community Centre Thursday night.
If you can’t attend the public consultations, you can provide feedback via an online survey on eastgwillimbury.ca.
Council will be hearing back on the public consultations Sept. 19.
