York Regional Police hate crime investigators are appealing for witnesses after anti-Semitic graffiti was found near the Hwy. 400 southbound ramp, close to Vaughan Mills mall.
Officers responded at about 8 a.m. Sept. 1, to a report that “hateful graffiti” in orange spray paint had been found on a concrete construction barrier on the ramp from Bass Pro Mills Drive to Hwy. 400 southbound, police said in a news release.
The graffiti reads 'Hitler was right!'
"There is an incredible amount of anti-Semitism here in our community, and we're asking the government and the Attorney General of Ontario to take these matters seriously," said Friends of the Simon Wiesenthal Center president and CEO Avi Benlolo, who was at the scene of the incident Sept. 1. "Hate crimes must be prosecuted and dealt with accordingly."
Investigators are asking any witnesses, anyone with information or anyone with dashcam footage in that area to please come forward.
