We've got a couple more days of extreme, July-like heat before cooler temperatures move in mid-week, according to Environment Canada.

A heat warning remains in effect for York Region, after a record-setting weekend of scorching temperatures.

"Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion," Environment Canada said.

On Saturday, Sept. 23, the temperature climbed to 33.1 C, breaking the record of 30.6 set in 1959.

Sunday, Sept. 24 saw the mercury hit 33 C at Buttonville Airport. Add in the humidity and it felt more like 40 C. That broke the record of 30.8 C set in 2010.

On Monday, Sept. 25, it will reach the low 30s but the humidity will, again, make it feel in the 40 C range

The record for Sept. 25 is 33.8 C set in 2007.

But a cool temperatures are expected to arrive by mid-week.

"Hot and humid conditions will continue early this week," Environment Canada said. "A cold front is expected to move across southern Ontario through the day Wednesday bringing cooler temperatures for the remainder of the week."
