Skate, swim, make crafts: P.A. Day activities today in York Region

Sept. 25 is the first Professional Activity (P.A.) day for the school year.

Students attending schools in both the York Region District School Board, and the York Catholic District School Board have the day off.

Here is a list of things to do across the region

Aurora

Enjoy activities like swimming, skating, arts, crafts, games, songs and more at Aurora's PA Day Camp at SARC 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. $40 fee, with additional costs for extended care hours.

Skate at the SARC, 1 to 3 p.m.

The Aurora Family Leisure Complex will be open for youth open gym, 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $3.

East Gwillimbury

Spend the day playing games, sports, doing arts and crafts, playing outdoors, and participating in theme days at the East Gwillimbury PA Day camp.

Skate at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex.

Georgina

Have fun at the ROC. For children age 4 to 12. Cost is $45 with additional fees for extended hours. Bring a nut-free lunch.

King

The Township of King is offering PA Day camps with crafts, games and outdoor activities.

Cool off skating at King City arena from 10:30 to 11:50 a.m., at the Trisan Centre from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. and the Nobleton Arena 12:30 to 1:50 p.m.

Markham

Spend the PA Day at Markham's community centres, libraries, or cultural sites. There are a variety of drop in and registered programs.

Newmarket

Newmarket PA Day camp runs at the Recreation Youth Centre. Programs will feature access to the Sk8 Park, gym, and games area and more.Lunch and snacks are provided. Cost is $40. Additional fees for non-residents, non-members and extended hours.

Richmond Hill

Check out the Richmond Hill PA Day programs which include a mad science program, skating, swimming and more.

Drop in during the PA Day event at the Richmond Hill Library. This free event is for children age 6 to 10 and runs 2 to 3 p.m.

Vaughan

The Vaughan Public Library has a number of activities at the Pierre Berton Resource Library  and the Woodbridge Library.

Interact with the natural environment at Kortright Centre's Forrest School. Program will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is for children 4 to 10 years old. Cost is $55 a day.

Whitchurch-Stouffville

The Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum is hosting a PA Day workshop, Cooking with Apples  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Make apple treats in historic and modern kitchens, play games, make crafts and more. Participants must bring nut-free lunch, pre-registration required. Ages 5 to 12. $40 per person or $32 for members.
