A new subdivision is on its way in Stouffville. Council has approved a new 366 unit development on the land south of Byers Pond Way and west of 10th Line.
The total land area of the development is 24.5 hectares. It will be accessed by a new east-west road intersecting with 10th Line which extends west on the property.
Both Lageer Drive and Byers Pond Way are to be extended from the subdivision to the north to the property.
Of the 366 units proposed, 205 will be single detached. Included within the Plan of Subdivision is an elementary school site, a park block, open space lands that will be conveyed to the TRCA and two stormwater management ponds.
The property is generally rectangular in configuration and has
historically been under active agricultural cultivation and forms part of the previous L&M Nurseries operation.
In addition to the single-detached dwellings, 83 street townhouses on lots that have a frontage of 6.1 metres or greater are proposed along with 77 private lane townhouses. The school on the site is proposed to be a catholic elementary school.
A plan has been developed to extend the heritage walkway from the north through the property to the 10th Line. An off-road multi-use trail is also proposed to connect with the Heritage Walkway.
