September 2017

On August 12, 2017, approximately 1000 people attended the 10th annual Circle of Friends-Butterfly Kisses Memorial event. Every year, this event gathers the community together to grieve the loss of their loved ones - and this year, it was no different. This year, those in attendance were able to release 510, regal, monarch butterflies in memory of someone they loved. In addition to that, the ceremony also included some singers, poem readers and the names of those who passed away - which were mentioned before the butterflies were released.

Over the last nine years, the Circle of Friends committee has been able to donate over $107,000 to both the Vaughan Health Care Foundation and Hospice Vaughan. This year all proceeds will go to Hospice Vaughan, as they have been their charity of choice for the last eight years. While the event was a success once again, after the event, the Circle of Friends donated $15,000 to Hospice Vaughan this year. Total monies donated through this event for the last 10 years has been $122,000. Circle of Friends would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants, supporters, donors, sponsors, volunteers and the Circle of Friends committee for making this event possible every year. The event is truly inspirational and meaningful and it allows people to come together for the same purpose, which is remembering and cherishing loved ones.
