The northbound Hwy. 400 in Vaughan has finally reopened all of its lanes after a tractor-trailer overturned earlier this afternoon and caused a massive blockage.

"The truck that was traveling northbound entered the right shoulder, hit a steel guardrail, (and then) rode the guardrail all the way up for some distance until it rolled over," said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt. He said it is believed the truck lost control.

The incident occurred before 2 p.m. near the King-Vaughan Rd. and prompted a lengthy cleanup process between Teston Rd. and King. All lanes were reopened just after 9:30 p.m., meaning the delays were in effect for seven and a half hours. No serious injuries were reported.

"The load that was inside that truck was all full of scrap, wood, sawdust and debris," Schmidt added. When the truck rolled, it spilled its load, and officials were left to "deal with the aftermath."

The stretch of highway that was affected is a construction zone, which complicated matters. The concrete wall damaged was there for construction purposes, and had to be replaced following the crash.
