Even though July 1st has passed, the Canada 150 celebrations are still going strong, especially because this year's birthday marks yet another major and historic moment for Canada.

One of the events that continued the celebrations after the 1st was the Facade Academy of The Arts' Art Beat Festival-which is in partnership with the City of Vaughan and in support of The Sara Elizabeth Centre. Recognized as Vaughan's largest outdoor arts festival, this colourful and inventive event-which took place at the Vellore Hall & Park-brought art lovers and art creators together to honour the creativity of the artists on location, who proudly showcased their extravagant art pieces to the community. While countless attendees walked around the park, they could groove to the live music-that weaved throughout the park-and check out over 50 professional artist galleries in the artist alley, along with the live body painting displays and caricature renditions of themselves or others. The interactive festival also featured highly electrifying street dance and active fitness performances, delectable treats, henna artists, an auto design showcase, art workshops and a scholarship & awards presentation-which included a scholarship cheque presentation sponsored by local fine jewelry store, Luna & Co.

While the festival managed to showcase and bring to light the artistic talents of the community, it also highlighted the beauty of expressing ones emotions, talents and experiences through art.
