Over 2500 people participated in the Canadian Italian Heritage Foundations June 10 and 11 celebration in honour Canadas 150th birthday.

“We were delighted with event. Thanks to the Federal Government all that participated had a great time learning about themselves and learning about many of the other cultures that make our Canada very special.” Said John Amendola, Treasurer of the Canadian Italian Heritage Foundation and Publisher of Snapd Woodbridge.” The weather was great, children and seniors had a great time and so did everyone in between! Who could ask for anything more!” concluded Amendola

The event featured a variety of Italian oriented entertainment including Carlo Coppola, Giuseppe the MC, Elvira Caria, Cooking Demonstrations by Chef Christian Pritchard Coro San Marco, Michael Nasato and Friends and Dia. But there was much to celebrate the engagement with other cultures with the Italian Community including the Ojibway White Pine Dancers, the Jewish Communities Ashkenaz entertainers and great local francophone talent, Les Enchanteurs and Mike Ford.

Youth enjoyed the exciting Multi Lingual Kids demonstration on Sunday along with bouncy castles all day Saturday. There was free food from Pizza Nova and Rea Foods and various booths and displays that helped those in attendance reflect on the many wonderful things that our country has to offer.

We appreciated the support of various dignitaries who attended” said Michael Tibollo, Chairman of the Canadian Italian Heritage Foundation. “This was a great endorsement of the concept of the event and we hope it will be the beginning of many more of these celebrations” offered Tibollo.

This event was part of the celebration of Italian Heritage Month in Ontario and now throughout Canada. It took place at the Veneto Centre in Vaughan. Special thanks to all the sponsors and supporters including Rea Foods, Justin’s No Frills, Pizza Nova and our gracious media partners including, Snapd CHIN Radio and TV and Italiani.ca.
