COSTCO WHOLESALE OPENS WAREHOUSE-CLUB IN NORTHWEST VAUGHAN
Costco creates another 290 new jobs in Vaughan

July 26, 2017

Costco Wholesale opened its first membership warehouse-club in Northwest Vaughan today. Located at 55 New Huntington Road, the new warehouse has created 290 jobs and an opportunity for local residents to benefit from the convenience and savings provided by a Costco membership.

Attending the opening were Mr. Maurizio Bevilacqua, Mayor of Vaughan, Mr. Francesco Sorbara, MP for Vaughan, Mr. Tony Carella, City Councilor representing Ward 2; along with Pierre Riel, Senior Vice-President & General Manager, Costco Wholesale Eastern Canada; and Jaime Ribeiro, General Manager of the new warehouse, as well as invited guests.

“We are very excited about the opening of this Costco Wholesale, which is an important contributor to Vaughan’s economic growth,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “This Costco is a considerable investment which will provide numerous jobs, strengthen our local economy and contribute to the vibrancy of our city.”

While the new warehouse is a first for Northwest Vaughan, it is the second Costco to open in the Vaughan region. The original Costco Warehouse-Club, now located at 71 Colossus Drive in Woodbridge, opened in 1990.

“With the opening of this new warehouse, we are closer to and can better serve our   members who, in the past, needed to shop at our busy location off of Highway 7 and Highway 400,” Mr. Riel said. “Additionally, we can now better meet the needs of the region and bring new consumers to uncover the benefits of a Costco membership.”

The new 154,000-square-foot location will feature a variety of convenient specialty departments including an on-site bakery, fresh meat, fresh produce and rotisserie chicken sections, an optical centre – including an on-site independent optometrist – hearing centre, tire centre, food court, one-hour photo centre, pharmacy and 18-pump gas station.

Like all other Costco Wholesale clubs, the new Northwest Vaughan location offers 4,000 high-quality items at warehouse prices. The company helps small to medium-size businesses save money on both supplies and items for resale, and provides a wide range of products and services for members’ personal use as well.

“Costco members will find a continued focus on offering great value,” commented Mr. Ribeiro. “This convenient and spacious new location will also present an incomparable selection of merchandise and services – at prices that only Costco Wholesale can offer.”

Costco Wholesale is open to members only. The annual fee is just $60 for a Business Membership or $60 for a Gold Star Membership. All Costco Wholesale memberships include a FREE spouse card and are valid at Costco locations around the world.

« Executive » membership

The company also offers an enhanced category called Executive Membership.  Those who choose this option receive additional savings on services such as residential or business long-distance and Internet plans, residential or auto insurance, as well as exclusive offers such as payment processing programs. The annual Executive Membership fee is $120 per year and includes a 2% reward (up to $1,000 annually) on all qualifying Costco purchases.

In addition to these Executive membership rewards, members can also receive up to a 3% reward thanks to the new free Capital One Platinum MasterCard offered exclusively to eligible Costco members.

Costco members can also make purchases at Costco.ca, where they will find thousands of items available online only.
