Help shape Barrie’s transportation industry bylaw.

Residents with recent experience using driver-for-hire, ride-share (Uber or similar companies) and taxicab services are invited to participate in an online survey. The bylaw will come into law Aug. 1, but the city wants to use the information gathered to create a comprehensive bylaw that ensures public safety, maintains ride service levels and creates competitive rates for all passenger transportation companies.

Results collected before August will become the baseline with which to compare rider experiences after the updates take effect.

The August update includes a plan to force ridesharing services to pay thousands of dollars in annual licensing fees to the city for the first time.

This survey closes Oct. 1. For more information, and to complete the survey, visit the ’Public Feedback’ area at barrie.ca/MyBarrie.
