Want to be among the first to ride the rocket out of Vaughan when the Spadina subway line extension opens later this year?
The city is holding a contest for a ride on a VIP preview train that will depart from the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) station, located just west of Jane Street at Hwy. 7, in the heart of the emerging downtown core.
To participate in the contest, dubbed Passport to Ride, you must pick up a passport available at any local community centre and at city hall, or find one inside the city's fall and winter recreation guide.
Participants must visit two of the city's 2017 signature events - Binder Twine Festival, Concerts in the Park, Canada Day, Culture Days or the Woodbridge Fall Fair - get their passport stamped at the VMC tent.
Once your passport is completed, you can submit it at one of those signature events or at the information desk inside City Hall, 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.
The 8.6-kilometre Spadina subway extension, slated to open by the end of December, will service to Vaughan from Downsview Station. It is the first TTC rapid transit line to cross the Toronto boundary.
