Vaughan Metropolitan Centre’s newest condo tower, Transit City, will start selling this week after it kicked off its broker sales launch on Tuesday. An estimated 2,500 sales agents attended the exclusive event to get a first look at pricing and floorplans for what is the tallest proposed residential building in the York Region.

Developed in collaboration with SmartREIT and CentreCourt Development, Transit City is a 55-storey condo tower with 551 units. Located in the new master-planned community,  SmartCentres Place, Transit City features one-, two- and three-bedroom residences.

Built to provide unparalleled access to transit, the development is only steps away from Vaughan’s newest TTC subway station, expected to open this year. Transit City is also next to the York Regional transit station, allowing residents rapid service to all of the Region’s municipalities.

Designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects Inc., SmartCentres Place includes 100 acres of land for residential, office and retail space, and boasts an expansive nine-acre park.

“Nothing in downtown Toronto, in the downtown core is even close to the size of this park,” CentreCourt Developments President Shamez Virani tells BuzzBuzzNews.

In an effort to create a five-star experience, Transit City will have a BUCA-branded restaurant and BAR BUCA in the lobby with all-day service. These establishments will be the first of their kind outside of downtown Toronto.

Adjacent to the tower is YMCA’s new 100,000-square-foot state of-the-art facility. Equipped with child care, exercise studios, aquatic facilities and a City of Vaughan library, residents will have easy access to recreational and fitness activities.

With the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre starting to grow and develop, Virani predicts the area will be the hottest market to watch out for.

“I genuinely believe when the VMC starts to take shape in the next five years, we’re going to look at this location as Yonge and Dundas or Yonge and College, as the epicentre of where the market wants to be, where you’re getting the highest price per foot, the highest rents. It’s going to be here,” says Virani.

Transit City’s one-bedroom units start at $321,000. Using a brokerage, prospective buyers can submit an application to purchase starting Thursday, May 25th. Construction is expected to be completed in 2020.
