Vaughan volunteers honoured

Vaughan council paid tribute to 80 local volunteers during a special ceremony held at city hall April 27.

Each honouree received a certificate and lapel pin to acknowledge their contributions.

The evening was capped off with a performance by the Richard Whiteman Trio.

Every year, during National Volunteer Week, the city recognizes the efforts of those who invest time and energy into making the community a better place.

The recipients are selected from nominees, put forward annually by not-for-profit organizations and community groups, whose outstanding actions have had a distinct impact on the city.

Since 2003, this city has honoured more than 1,500 volunteers for their efforts whether it's raising money for worthwhile causes, promoting cultural events or protecting the environment.
