Recyclers rejoice: Vaughan launches curbside giveaway weekends

Treasure hunters, start your engines.
The city is launching its inaugural curbside giveaway event, which offers residents a chance to unload their gently-used, unwanted items while recycling enthusiasts can unearth a few gems.
The first of six “giveaway” weekends takes place on Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28.
Gently-used items can be placed at the curb on Saturday starting at 7 a.m., and any unclaimed items must be removed by 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Acceptable reusable items you can carry to the curb include books, furniture, small appliances, sports equipment, toys and tools.
All items must have a “free - curbside giveaway” sign posted on them, so treasure hunters know what goodies they can claim.
Products listed on Health Canada’s consumer product safety website, such as baby walkers or car seats, are not acceptable items.
