Ontario passes new resource management legislation

May 9 the Government of Ontario passed new legislation modernizing resource extraction rules to facilitate enhanced environmental protection, as well as the creation of jobs and economic growth in the aggregates and mining sectors.

The Aggregate Resources and Mining Modernization Act includes such measures as clearer environmental protection regulations, updated processes for fee and royalty increases, expanded public participation, and an online mining claims registration and electronic mining lands administration system.
