Local not-for-profit groups hosting an event to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday can land a little cash from the city to help them out.
The municipality is making $10,000 available to provide grants up to $500 for eligible not-for-profit organizations and community groups.
Grants are available to registered community service organizations or groups with a significant presence, including membership, in Vaughan. Membership must also be open to all Vaughan residents.
The program, event or project being funded must be held in Vaughan or must relate to the city in a substantial way and must be completed by Dec. 31.
The deadline for applications, available at vaughan.ca/Canada150, is May 30.
The grant money comes from Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua's By the Spirit of Generosity charitable fund, which raises money through the mayor's Gala and Charity Golf Classic.
