The city is hosting a meeting to update the public about renovations to the former Kleinburg United Church and a proposed exhibit for the Pierre Berton Heritage Centre.

The meeting takes place April 24 at the Kleinburg Public Library meeting room, 10341 Islington Ave., from 7 to 9 p.m.

The city has been working for years on plans to pay tribute to the renowned author and longtime Kleinburg resident by creating a centre dedicated to celebrating Berton's life and work including his beloved children's novel, The Secret World of Og.

The Pierre Berton Heritage Centre, to be located in the former Kleinburg United Church, will offer visitors an “engaging, interactive experience of Canada’s national story” inspired by Berton's work, the city’s website says.
