Do you know someone who has made a significant, enduring contribution to the community? If so, the city wants to hear from you.

Nominations are open for the Order of Vaughan, the highest civic honour bestowed by the city.

Launched last year for Vaughan’s 25th anniversary, it recognizes people who’ve made a positive impact in one or more of the following categories: arts and entertainment, media and communications, athletics, health and wellness, business, philanthropy, public service, education, science and technology, not-for-profit, equity and diversity, accessibility, environment and spirituality.

Nominees must be a resident or former resident of Vaughan.

Those not eligible include current City of Vaughan employees, elected officials and public appointees at the federal, provincial or municipal level while still holding office.

Among the 25 individuals awarded last year were real estate developer Mario Cortellucci, Human Endeavour founder Noor Din, human rights advocate Hannah Godefa and Longo’s co-founder Gus Longo.

Nominations for 2017 will be accepted until June 15 and will be assessed by the Order of Vaughan selection committee, which recommends nominees to city council for approval.

For more information or to download the nomination form, visit the Order of Vaughan webpage.

Alternatively, nomination forms can be picked up at city hall, local community centres and libraries.
