Four Vaughan food firms are being fed nearly $300,000 in government funding.
Kisko Products in Woodbridge, officials announced March 13, landed $100,000 through the Growing Forward 2 program to purchase and install an automated batching system to help the family-run freeze pop business increase efficiency, productivity and reduce batching errors.
It was one of 223 companies across Ontario treated to support through the joint federal-provincial program that provides support to food processors.
Riverside Natural Foods Ltd. also received $100,000 to purchase new processing equipment for the company to reach its growth targets.
Concord-based United Bakery Manufacturers Inc. netted $93,930 to purchase and install three spiral coolers in an effort to increase automation, labour productivity and quality.
Damon Industries (Canada) Ltd. in Concord scored $2,500 to complete a gap assessment of their food safety system.
