You’re being invited to shine a light on climate change at Vaughan’s 10th annual Earth Hour event Saturday, March 25.
The environmentally-friendly festivities taking place at city hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.) feature candlelit yoga, a night cycle ride, a lantern walk, live entertainment, and the presentation of Vaughan’s Green Hero award.
Earth Hour, launched by the World Wildlife Fund in 2007, is celebrated by powering down and flicking off the lights for one hour between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
More than 7,000 cities in 172 countries and territories have participated in the event since its inception.
During last year’s Earth Hour event, Vaughan residents consumed 3.7 per cent less power than usual for a 12.04 megawatt reduction.
