Shadowpath is taking an active approach to developing the next generation of female creative leaders. Their newest initiative - The FemmeOperative is a speaker series that showcases female leaders in creative industries. Two women are interviewed about their life, process, and journey that led them to become creative catalysts in their community. This is a seasonal series that travels all across York Region. Launching in November 2016 in a cafe in Aurora, the second FemmeOperative visited a Lake Wilcox brewery in Vaughan in January 2017 and is headed to a yoga studio in Newmarket in May. The FemmeOperative complements the apprenticeship program at Shadowpath. Artistic Director Alex Karolyi is training 15 women over three years in such skills as artistic direction, creation and producing. The FemmeOperative is an opportunity to bring like-minded people together in one room to engage, share and connect.
