Vaughan MPP Steven Del Duca hosted a heated public meeting at Father Ermanno Bulfon Community Centre in Woodbridge Feb. 6.
The subject was the clean up of a former illegal dumpsite at 5550 Langstaff Rd., a site a developer wants to build homes on.
Del Duca, along with Celeste Dugas, with the Ministry of the Environment central office and Andrea Brown, an engineer at the same office, presented a report from the ministry that states the site is now clean.
Residents, who have lived beside a mountain of contaminated soil for more than a decade, are skeptical and challenged them, citing a report on soil quality results from testing done around their neighbourhood.
They say their report did not match the ministry's.
