If you are interested in the topic of basement apartments, you may want to attend a Vaughan council committee of the whole meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m.

Vaughan staff have conducted a city-wide secondary suites study and written a report.

The report recommends council approve a secondary suites implementation strategy.

A total of $75,000 was budgeted to complete the secondary suites study, which was led by the policy planning department.

Subsequently, funding for this study was increased by $30,000 as approved by council on Dec. 10, 2013.

The main reason for increasing funding from the original amount of $45,000 was to accommodate more public consultation as directed by council. This includes additional consultation with the secondary suites task force.
