United Way Toronto & York Region recently raised $102 million - its largest-ever fundraising achievement.
It is the largest United Way campaign in the world.
Funds raised are directly invested in United Way programs and agencies to improve lives locally.
“The outpouring of support for this campaign has been incredible, uniting people across our region in the power of possibility,” Dave McKay, RBC president and CEO and United Way 2016 Campaign chair, said in a statement.
“We all come to be a part of United Way for a number of reasons, but are truly united by a deep commitment to this community – where we live, work and raise our families.”
Toronto Mayor John Tory and York Regional Chair Wayne Emmerson thanked supporters at the announcement.
Throughout the campaign, more than 20,000 volunteers, 150,000 donors and 700 companies from all sectors united to ensure that United Way supports are available close to home.
“This is more than a celebration of dollars raised - it is an uprising of care to change lives and neighbourhoods across our region,” Daniele Zanotti, United Way Toronto & York Region president and CEO, said in a statement.
“Along with our agencies, United Way turns this investment into real community change.”
