Kleinburg house fire takes 6 fire trucks 5 hours to fight

A fire at a home on Nashville Road in Kleinburg Saturday night sent one person to hospital with minor injuries.

Vaughan Fire and Rescue was called out to the blaze which, a Vaughan Fire and Rescue official said is believed to have been sparked by a car ignition fire that started in the garage of the home at 685 Nashville Road.

The home's residents were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors and all made it out of the home.

A total of six trucks and up to 16 firefighters spent up to five hours fighting the fire. The first call came in at 10:33 p.m. Saturday and the last truck left the scene at 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

A woman was taken to hospital after she suffered a minor cut to her hand.

A Vaughan Fire and Rescue official said the damage estimate for the fire is approximately, "$400,000 to $450,000."

Fire officials are on site today investigating the cause of the fire.
