Snapd Vaughan East
January 2017
Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) was pleased to announce that for each food item donated at one of VPL’s locations, between December 1-14, your library fine was lowered by $1.00. Collected items were then donated to the Vaughan Food Bank and Humanity First. This was an opportunity for families to spend quality time together while helping their community. There were several hands-on activities, including: decorating and preparing snack bags for children who are staying at Yellow Brick House - a local shelter for homeless and battered women and children; organizing and packing up the food collected from the VPL Food For Fines initiative for the Vaughan Food Bank; and two short story time sessions with an emphasis on character traits such as kindness, helpfulness, and generosity.
