Newmarket Ward 5 byelection: Era will host online all-candidates' debate Oct. 6

We’re hoping for a great Ward 5 debate Thursday October 6.

The Newmarket Era and York Region Media Group will host an online all-candidates’ debate for the town’s vacant Ward 5 council seat through our Facebook page, facebook.com/yrmgnews, from noon to 5 p.m. We’ll ask one question to the candidates each hour and, once they’ve had a chance to respond, residents will be invited to pose a follow-up question to the Ward 5 hopefuls. So stop by and find out where the candidates stand on some of the most important issues currently facing Newmarket residents.

However, we’re also inviting questions ahead of time. So, if there is a town or ward specific issue you’d like candidates to address, let us know and we may ask about it during the course of the debate.
