A new, three-part morning lecture series in Thornhill features authors, journalists and local personalities sharing stories and answering questions.

The series will be held at Imagine Cinemas (formerly Rainbow Cinemas Promenade Mall) at the Promenade Shopping Centre in the Bathurst and Centre streets area.

It kicked off Wednesday, Sept. 28 with author and journalist Sue-Ann Levy discussing her new book Confessions of a Right Wing Conservative Jewish Muckraker.

The next lecture will be Oct. 26, when former Toronto Star current affairs journalist Tim Harper speaks on What the US Election Means to Canada and Why we Should Care.

The final lecture is Nov. 16, featuring so called Word Lady and former editor-in-chief of the Canadian Oxford Dictionary, Katherine Barber on Why the English Language is so Wacky: How Language Evolved over Time.

Lectures will last about an hour, with a 30-minute question and answer session at the end of the presentation.

The L.A.S.E.R. Lectures was launched by Robyn Green. The series is meant to engage adults 55 and older with topics ranging from literature to current affairs, and from art to health.

Green is the creator of Sunflower Productions Inc., an event planning and consulting company she established in 2000.

Sunflower Productions launched Movies for Mommies - the Original Parent & Baby Event in 2001.
