If you’ve just settled in the city and are looking to get to know more about it, you might want to hop on the Vaughan Newcomer’s Bus Tour.
The free tour, organized by Welcome Centre Immigrant Services in partnership with the City of Vaughan and York Regional Police, runs Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 28 and 29.
Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., riders travel to several key locations including the Welcome Centre office, city hall, a local recreation centre, York police District 4 headquarters, McMichael Canadian Art Collection and the Vaughan Civic Centre library, where they’ll be given a library card.
Along the way, participants will learn about several different services available to them as well as how and where to access them.
Presentations will be made by officials from Welcome Centre Immigrant Services, Vaughan Fire, York Regional Police, York Region EMS, McMichael Gallery, York Region Public Health and Ontario Works.
And there’s a free lunch too, donated by Fortinos.
The bus tour has space available for about 40 people each day.
