It's dry out there.

A town-wide ban on all outdoor and open-air burning has been issued across Georgina.

Outdoor burning for any purpose, including recreational burning, is not permitted, said town spokesperson Ken Turriff.

The ban will remain in effect "until such time as ground, weather and atmospheric conditions permit," he said in a media release issued Aug. 10.

"Residents are strongly urged to comply with this ban as it has been issued for their property protection, their safety and the safety of the firefighters that would have to respond to an incident started by the unlawful burning of materials," Turriff said.

For further information on this ban, or any other fire safety information, residents are encouraged to contact the Georgina Fire Department at 905-476-5167 or visit the town’s website at www.georgina.ca
