On June 3rd at Vaughan City Hall the Flag Raising Ceremony took place to begin this year’s Italian Heritage Month festivities. The Italian Heritage Month Act, 2010 is significant to all Canadians of Italian origin in Ontario as it serves to acknowledge and validate all of the hard work and sacrifices of the past generations who left the security of their country of birth to arrive in a new land and make it their home. It is significant to all people of Ontario because it demonstrates the importance of multiculturalism in our society and our right to celebrate our differences thereby making this one of the most beautiful and harmonious places in the world. This was a great event as many key figures in the Italian community along with dignitaries honoured the start of Italian Heritage Month and officially raised up the Italian flag in front of many who came on out for this great day!
