July 2016

Since 1974, the National Congress of Italian Canadians (NCIC) has represented Canadians of Italian heritage in economic, social, and political issues affecting the quality of life for all Canadians. The Toronto District of the National Congress of Italian Canadians (NCIC - TD) is dedicated to raising the awareness of the many positive contributions Canadians of Italian heritage continue to make to Canadian society. Beginning in 1988, the NCIC - TD has presented its highest award of merit the ORDINE AL MERITO to Canadians of Italian heritage who have made outstanding contributions to our society. In 1998, the NCIC - TD introduced the Youth Achievement Award, honouring Canadian youth of Italian heritage between the ages of 18 and 30, who have contributed to the betterment of our society. The NCIC - Toronto District - Ordine al Merito & Youth Achievement Awards Gala took place on June 2 this year, at the Fontana Primavera Event Centre, 77 Woodstream Blvd. The selection of deserving individuals for the 2016 Ordine al Merito Award and the Youth Achievement Award were complete. Mr. Michael De Gasperis and Mrs. Rossana DiZio Magnotta were announced as the 2016 Ordine al Merito recipients and Ms. Paula Brancati and Mr. Daniele Monticelli were then announced as the 2016 Youth Achievement Award Recipients.
