July 2016

Bike, Eat, Repeat, the top three reasons cyclists keep coming back to Giro. This was Giro’s 10th anniversary for Villa Charities as the 2016 Villa Charities Giro Cycling fundraiser took place on May 29th at the Eagles Nest Golf Club on 10000 Dufferin Street. Participants felt the freedom of the road and experienced only what a selected few cyclists have, while fundraising for Villa Charities. Everyone a part of this event made a huge difference to the hundreds of seniors who depend on special programs and services. The cyclists challenged their endurance and skills on the GranFondo 100km route and the MedioFondo 60km route and on two timing challenges: Strawberry Hill and King-Vaughan Road. Along the way, cyclists were able to refuel at the many Italian-themed rest stops with mangia and beve. Every registered cyclist received an official GIRO and Azzurra cycling gifts. The ride started and ended at Eagles Nest Golf Club. Among many guests there, were Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and TSN anchor Gino Reda. This was a fun-filled day, Italian style! Thanks to everyone who made it on out!
