July 2016
Mayor Bevilacqua was pleased to join Premier Kathleen Wynne, Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca, York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson, Spadina-Fort York Member of Parliament Adam Vaughan and Toronto Transit Commission Chair Josh Colle, at the site of the future Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) Station to mark the completion of track installation for the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension. This was a major milestone in the project and demonstrates the commitment of all levels of government to improving our rapid transit network. Vaughan will become a key connection point for our neighbouring regions, and the subway extension will play an important role in connecting transit services as well as supporting businesses and residential growth in the VMC. The subway is a step forward in our transformation into a leading urban centre and a key component of our new downtown, the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. The VMC continues to take shape with residential towers and office buildings, and soon the subway will be bringing people to and from our growing city. As the largest and most ambitious project in Vaughan's history, the VMC will be a destination of choice for both citizens and visitors.
