What's open, what's closed in York Region for the 2016 Civic Holiday long weekend

Banks, government offices, post offices and most childcare centres will be closed on Aug. 1.
Four hundred four LCBO locations will be open, but some with modified hours, so check specific location hours by visiting lcbo.com or calling 1-800-668-5226.
Most grocery and convenience store locations will be open, but check your local store for hours of operation before you leave home.
York Region Transit and Viva services will be operating on a Sunday schedule on Aug. 1 and GO services will be operating on a Saturday schedule.
Splash pads across the region will be open.
Here’s what’s open and what’s not in your municipality:
Vaughan:
- The Beer Stores at 7850 Weston Rd., Woodbridge, 9771 Jane St., Vaughan and 1470 Major Mackenzie Dr. W., Maple will be open.
- Vaughan City Hall, Joint Operations Centre, public libraries and animal services are closed.
- Community centres and programs are cancelled from July 30 through Aug. 1.
- Vaughan Mills Mall is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Promenade Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Thornhill Outdoor Pool, 28 Centre St., is open for length swim and parent and tot swim from 10 a.m. to noon and a recreational swim from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- Waste collection will continue on a normal schedule.
Richmond Hill:
- The Beer Stores at 10375 Yonge St. and 8825 Yonge St. will be open.
- Hillcrest Mall and Carrville Mall are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- All Richmond Hill community centres, town fitness studios, pools and arenas, as well as town offices, are closed.
- The wave pool is open from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. for an adult leisure swim, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a leisure swim and 1:30 to 4 p.m. for a wave swim.
- Waste collection will continue on a normal schedule.
Aurora:
The Beer Stores at 14800 Yonge St. and 15820 Bayview Ave. will be open.
Aurora’s town hall, public library and the Aurora Cultural Centre are closed.
Aurora’s two recreation centres will be operating with modified hours, which can be found at aurora.ca/civicholiday.
Waste collection won’t be affected.
Newmarket:
- The Beer Stores at 1100 Davis Dr., 17725 Yonge St. and 16715 Yonge St. are open.
- Upper Canada Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Municipal offices, the library and recreation facilities will be closed.
- Gorham pool is open for public swimming from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m
- The Rogers spray pad and Riverwalk Commons water feature are both open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Curbside waste collection continues on a normal pick-up schedule.
King:
- The municipal offices and facilities are closed.
- Nobleton Pool will be open.
- Curbside waste collection is not impacted.
Whitchurch-Stouffville:
- Municipal offices and facilities will be closed.
- Waste collection will remain on schedule.
Georgina:
- The Beer Store at 443 The Queensway S. will be open.
- The Civic Centre, Georgina gym, leisure pool, public libraries, Stephen Leacock Theatre, Club 55 locations, Georgina Pioneer Village, Sutton Arena, Ice Palace, Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre, The Link and The ROC will be closed.
- Curbside waste collection will be one day later this week.
East Gwillimbury:
- Municipal offices and facilities are closed.
- Waste collection remains the same.
Markham:
- The Beer Store at 5804 Hwy. 7 will be open.
- Municipal offices, facilities and libraries will be closed.
- Angus Glen Community Centre will have lane or parent and tot swim from 1 to 2 p.m.; recreational swim at 2 to 4 p.m.
- Centennial Community Centre fitness centre will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Cornell Community Centre & Library fitness centre will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Rouge River pool will have a recreational swim from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Thornhill Community Centre fitness centre will be open 8 .m. to 4 p.m.
- Morgan Pool will have a lane swim from noon to 1 p.m. and a recreational swim from 1 to 5 p.m.
- Waste collection remains on the same schedule.
