There may be no better way to influence a young mind than through its peers.

The Peer Project is seeking volunteers ages 16 to 29 to mentor at-risk and newcomer children and adolescents. The mentor will provide guidance and support to their mentee on an individual basis, with the aim of helping the youngster adapt to Canadian culture and stay in school.

Volunteers will spend about three hours per week sharing inspiring skills, experiences and hobbies. They will be paired based on common interests, background and community.

“We have a high need for male volunteers,” volunteer recruitment coordinator Paula Da Rocha said. “Join our amazing team of mentors for a rewarding opportunity to build your resume and positively impact a young person's life.”
