Residential and multi-residential property tax rates decreased in all municipalities across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area in 2016, when compared to 2015.

For the fifth year in a row Durham Region municipalities, led by Oshawa, had the highest residential tax rates, while Toronto’s residential rate remains the lowest in the region.

York Region municipalities continue to have the lowest multi-residential rates in the region, while Hamilton again has the highest rate.

While between 2014 and 2015 Barrie increased both its residential and multi-residential rates and Brock and Hamilton increased their multi-residential rates, all three municipalities reduced their rates between 2015 and 2016.
