New trails legislation passed

June 1 the Province of Ontario passed the Supporting Ontario’s Trails Act, 2016 to help protect and improve the province’s trail system. The legislation will provide new tools to develop, operate and promote trails, promote local trail-related tourism and enable a standardized classification system to match users to trails that reflect their interests and abilities. The act also amends existing legislation to address liability, trespassing and protection of property concerns.
